35 Ways To Make Money !

These are 35 ways you can #make_money from home that actually work! I have actually tried and done most of these myself and can attest that they are legitimate money-making ideas - so check them out!

This article originally began as ‘ways for teens to make money’, but as I have updated and added to it over the years, I have found that many of the items listed actually work for many adults looking to make some extra income as well.
I can remember my teenage days well. I didn’t want to work, but I needed to make money to support my social life. So I umpired, cut grass, and bagged groceries.
I didn’t particularly love any of the jobs, but in order to offset my spending, I needed to work.
The good news for us today is there are a wide range of ways to make money- that weren’t around when I was a teenager.
Most of them require a good work ethic, but there are a lot of new opportunities available.

Luckily for many teens, they may already be very skilled in certain areas that could easily translate into a nice side income for them. For example, I remember hearing about a teenage girl who designed Myspace backgrounds and was making more money than her parents.
So potentially, a teenager who is willing to work hard could make considerably more than working traditional “jobs” like at McDonalds, cutting grass, bussing tables, etc. For even more, check out these 5 legit work-from-home job opportunities.

What type of teen are we talking about?

The 7-year period defined as the “teenage years” sees a wide range of maturity levels. I remember moments where I showed high levels of maturity and moments that are better left unspoken. Interestingly, my immaturity didn’t necessarily decrease as I grew closer to 20 years old. My point is that some of these jobs are going to require a teenager who is “on the ball” in terms of maturity. But if you have (or are) one, these could be much better alternatives to “would you like to supersize that?”

The 35 Ways To Earn Money

1. Make Money Online with Swagbucks

A screenshot of my Amazon gift card I redeemed from earning points with SwagbucksBasically this is a free site that offers you a bunch of ways to earn cash, gift cards, or other rewards.
You can earn by answering polls, taking surveys, doing simple tasks (like giving feedback about a website), trading in old video games or books, and even playing games on their site.
I have tried it out and have received multiple payments from them, so I can attest that it is legit.
The screenshot to the right was an Amazon gift card that I got from them, but I have also redeemed my “bucks” for Paypal gift cards as well when I wanted the cash.
While you won’t get rich doing this, to me it seems like a great way for internet-lovers to make some money.  Find out more in our Swagbucks review or get started here.

2. Sell stuff on eBay

I just recently made $2145 in one month selling stuff from around the house on Ebay and Craigslist.
You can even sell stuff for friends or family members and split the profits with them.

3. Freebie Trading

A couple years ago I did an interview with a guy who made $28,000 in one year doing this part time. It is work and requires organization skills to do it well, but it is legit.
I tried my hand at it using Project Payday and their training materials to see that it was legit.
Basically companies are willing to pay you to do trial offers for their products. They know that many people who do the trial offer will like their product and continue to be customers, so they are willing to pay people to sign up for trial offers.
So one of the main ways of making money freebie trading is signing up for offers like a Free Netflix trial, emusic.com, applying for a Discover Card, etc. The key to success seems to be having a calendar where you can keep track of when the trial periods end and make sure to cancel before they end.
If you are interested in learning more I definitely recommend Project Payday as they have a ton of training guides (free if you complete a couple offers) that will greatly simplify the process. Oh and they have a A+ rating with the BBB as well.

4. Take online surveys

35 ways to make money I am not particularly fond of the whole online survey thing since I had a bad experience using CashCrate.
But there are lots of online survey sites and people who do it successfully. Here are a few if you want to investigate it further:
I recommend proceeding with caution and definitely not paying anything to join.

5. Raise Money Online

If you are raising money for a community service project or missions, you might want to check out a site like GoFundMe.com. They make it easy for teens to raise money for any type of project. People have used it to raise the money for everything from mission trips to medical bills, weddings and honeymoons, business ventures, and even college tuition.

6. Build Websites For Others

I can’t tell you how many people have asked me to build them a website since I started this one a couple years ago. I am not seeking the work and people are requesting it, so if you do a little legwork and pursue small business owners, there is a lot of work available. Teens might be great for this, because they would be able to work for less than some higher end website developers, which would put them in the price range that it seems many small businesses are looking to spend. Here is a great course to help you get started.

7. Cleaning out Foreclosed Homes

With there being as many foreclosed homes out there as there are, the bankers (who now own the houses) don’t want to clean them up and they are willing to pay hefty sums for those who will.  So it is fairly easy to start a Foreclosure cleanup business and get paid pretty well in the process. If you are interested here is a course you can take to learn more.

8. Freelance Write

As they say on the web “content is king” and everyone wants it. Places like Elance or Odesk have thousands of different job openings available for freelance writers. If you are not in a rush for receiving compensation and know how to do keyword research, there is money to be made writing at Hubpages and Squidoo. For more on this method, check out How to make money with Hubpages.

making money with christmas lights business9. Start a Christmas Light Hanging business

If you aren’t afraid of heights and can handle being out in the cold, this is a pretty great business opp.
Some people earn a full-year’s salary just hanging lights for 2 months each year.
Here is a course that I found that teaches you how to do it.

10. Sell Plasma

Not sure how old you have to be, nor how painful it is, but if you are into that sort of thing, it can be a way to make some quick money.
You can find donation centers here.

11. Take part in medical studies

I have a couple friends who have almost done this exclusively as a job. They were basically human guinea pigs, but they made some decent cash at it. Sometimes they would have be at the medical facility for up to 48 hours, so your schedule may need to be flexible.
Just google “medical studies” + your city to find some options.

12. Fiverr

Fiverr is a website that allows you to sell your service for $5. There are all kinds of crazy things people are offering and getting paid for on there – like taking a picture holding a sign, recording 2 sentences in an irish accent, recording a video singing a certain song, and even prank calling a friend all for $5.
So if you have a little creativity, there are some fun ways to make some money on the side.

gigwalk iphone app that pays13. Gigwalk

Gigwalk is a fairly new iPhone app that offers payment for completing simple tasks based on your location.
For example users earn by taking pictures of a restaurant’s menu, verifying roadblocks and signage, and other simple tasks.
If you are in a big city (which typically has more opportunities) there is some decent potential with this one.

14. Get paid to Tweet

Did you know that advertisers will pay you to send out tweets about their products?
As you could imagine the bigger your audience the more you will get paid, but you can find out more here – SponsoredTweets.com.

15. Use Bookscouter to sell books from Thrift stores

how to make money using the Bookscouter app at thrift storesOk here is a simple business idea for you.
Start by downloading the BookScouter app on your phone.
Go visit garage sales or thrift shops and scan the used book sections to find books that you can sell for higher prices.
Many thrift stores sell all their books for 50 cents or less and some of those books are worth a whole lot more.
As you can see in the image to the right, you just scan the barcode with your phone (or enter the ISBN #) and then the app provides the prices that a bunch of book buyback sites are willing to pay for that particular book.
In this case, we can make $3.60 selling this Dave Ramsey book.  If I can buy it for 50 cents, then that sounds like a nice profit.

16. Tutor or give lessons

making money giving guitar lessonsAre you great at guitar, math, or kicking a field goal?
Why not advertise your skills to those a few years younger than you?
Many parents are willing to pay a teenager to tutor their child in an area that needs development.
Post an ad to Craigslist for free and see what happens!

17. Create Facebook Graphics or Pages

or Twitter backgrounds for that matter.
Lots of small business owners are needing help making their online presence not so lame.  If you have even the smallest amount of graphic design skill you can help some of them!
Just set up a simple site to sell your work, get a paypal “buy it now link” and you are off and running.

18. Write product reviews

There are places like CiaoEpinions.comReviewStream.com that pay for product reviews – if you have an opinion and can type quickly this might be a good option. Another one that just popped up is called Ukritic and they allow you to write reviews of products and then you can earn affiliate commissions from the sales of those products. It might not be quick cash, but for those who like to write it may be a decent option.

Jobs for adults or uniquely mature teenagers

19. Buy and Sell cars for profit

earning cash from your carsIf you love cars and aren’t afraid to haggle, you could start a car flipping biz.
We have a friend of the family who has done this for years.
He scours the classified listings for deals, lands a good deal and then drives the car while trying to sell it for a couple grand more. Sometimes he sells them quickly, sometimes it takes a little longer, but he gets to drives lots of cars (which he loves) and makes a nice side income as well.
Here is an online course to help you get started.

20. Rent out your car for $10+ an hour

I just heard about RelayRides.com which allows you to either rent or lend your car to others – and get paid in the process.
If you live in a big city, this could be pretty profitable!

21. Blogging

Two years ago I wasn’t sure if there was money to be made blogging, but I have since found it to work out nicely. It isn’t something that will provide much income quickly, but if you stick at it, it can.
Since I have been a full-time blogger for many years now, I wrote extensively about how to make money from a blog for those who are interested in this type of thing.

22. Design Web Logos

If you have a flair for design, it may be worth trying to make some money designing logos for small business or blogs.

23. Social Marketing Consultant

Many companies are looking for qualified candidates who know the ins and outs of Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter to help them with their social marketing efforts.
Head over to a job site and search for “social media marketing”.

24. Sell articles

Following in that same vein, you can sell articles you write at places like Constant-Content.com, ArticleSale.com, Helium.com.

25. Start an eBay business

Last year I experimented with starting an eBay business to see if there was money to be made.
While profit margins can be thin selling on eBay, there are over a million eBay businesses, so it is a viable option.
selling photos online and making money doing it!

26. Sell Digital Photos

Making money as a photographer has become easier over the last decade.
There are now lots of sites looking to buy digital photos: Shutterstock.com123RF.comDreamstime.comCreStock.com, and Fotolia.com.
As with most things, the better you are, the more money you will make, but it can be a nice passive income if you work at it!

27. Find odd-jobs on Craigslist

Some of these might be landscaping work, or similar odd-jobs, but it might be great summer-time work!

28. Sell widgets on Etsy.com

If you create any kind of arts or crafts or widgets of any sort, you should definitely be selling it on Etsy.com.
Read our step-by-step tutorial of how to set up your Etsy shop.

29. Join a Focus Group

There are likely to be focus groups in your area that may be willing to hire teens. Organizations are always looking for participants because there are business advantages for focus groups. Just Google “focus group” and your city to get started.

30. Make Money by Viewing Ads On Your Android Lock Screen

I’ve been trying out this android app called Locket that puts ads on your lock screen and pays you for each time you unlock your phone.
I’ve been trying it out for a few days and have made about 3 bucks thus far, so it isn’t huge, but at the same time, I didn’t really have to do any work to earn the money.
Anyway, if you are interested in checking it out, I have a quick video review that you can watch here…

31. Be a Mystery Shopper

This is the dream job isn’t it? You get to shop and get paid! The added bonus is that you secretly have recourse when you are treated poorly in the store.

32. Offer to do jobs on Zaarly.com

Zaarly is a website that connects those offering random services (like walking a dog, being a personal assistant for a day, giving guitar lessons, etc) with buyers who are looking for those services.
I would suggest checking out some of the ideas listed on the site and sign up and offer those services.

33. Get paid from your iPhone (smartphone)

There seem to be some apps popping up that pay you to do simple stuff like take a picture of a menu, or of yourself drinking a starbucks, or verifying that a road is closed – you get the picture.
Here are a few that I found:

34. Teach English (or other Language) Classes Online

Did you know that English speakers are in high demand in Asia?
As a result many are turning to freelance English teachers using websites like Italki.com.
The site is basically a virtual online classroom for freelance teachers and students.
Anyone can offer lessons (and set their own price) and anyone can take lessons.
From a quick scan, it looks like making $15-20/hour is a fair expectation.

35. Sell Your Video Game Accounts

Are you a gamer?
Try selling your accounts, virtual gold, or virtual weapons.
You can often sell items like these on gamer forums or even on Ebay.com.

Top 10 Best Android Games

AH Top 10 Games Monthly

Great Little Wargame 2Screenshot (879)

The very first Great Little Wargame was a fantastic title if you like turn based combat strategy games and we were eager to see Great Little Wargame 2 upon its release. Rubicon Development really does a bang up job with the sequel, and provides gamers with tons of replay value and lots to love. Plan out your strategic moves lest you be struck down by your opponents without much effort, and no one wants that. Best of all Great Little Wargame 2 is a one time buy, with no ads and no IAP. If you played the original you definitely have to check out the sequel. If you’re interested in picking it up, throw $2.99 at your screen and click install.

The Rhythm Of FightersAH The Rhythm Of Fighters

The Rhythm of Fighters is yet another example of an awesome game from SNKPlaymore. The original classics are great, but these cool little spinoffs are a great take on the classic games that many gamers remember from their days at the arcade huddled in front of the neogeo machines. The Rhythm of Fighters is as the name suggests, a Rhythm based game that will have you attacking to the beat of the music, but only if you can tap the beats correctly. Tap the correct beats, and land your attacks. String together beats for combo attacks and special moves, as well as assistance from your support characters. Spend $0.99 and get ultimate fun here.

DefendersPrime World Defenders

Defenders is one of many Tower Defense titles on the Play Store, but few give you this much fun gameplay and eye candy all wrapped up in one major awesome package, for free I might add. Unfortunately free usually means IAP and that is no different here, but that only becomes a problem if you find it hard for yourself to resist spending money there where it isn’t required. Defenders has tons of levels, tons of monsters, and tons of towers to use to defend against their incoming attacks. The 3D graphics are sure to please and if you like TD games this is definitely one to check out, you can pick it up for free from the Play Store.

Boom BeachBoom Beach

Boom Beach is the next combat strategy game from Supercell following up the popular Clash of Clans. You can explore a huge tropical archipelago and stake your claim and begin building your defenses. There are hundreds of unique bases to attack all around the island, and you can band up with others who play so you can take down evil menacing bosses and thwart their plans. More of a lonewolf? Raid other players bases instead. The game is free to play as one would expect and that means IAP however, they’re optional as was Clash of Clans which was loved by many.

Angry Birds EpicAH Angry Birds Epic

In the most epic Angry Birds game ever made, Angry Birds Epic takes the loveable birds we’re familiar with and throws them right into the fray of a battle ridden RPG. Steel yourselves, and prepare to enter battle all the while leveling up your bird characters, gathering materials for crafting items and weapons and other gear, and facing some of the most nefarious pigs in existence. It’s a fun little take on the Angry Birds universe, and is free to play for all.

Hitman GOAH Hitman GO

Hitman GO takes the idea of the popular franchise contract killer and places him in the middle of gameboard. Your goals are the same though. Reach your target,(sometimes undetected)kill off your enemies, pick up useful items. Lovingly crafted graphics that put off visuals of a Diorama, Hitman GO is not the Hitman you remember, but it’s an utterly amazing game nonetheless. Hitman GO is basically a puzzle game, as you have to figure out how to reach your end destination on each level without alarming any of the guards. Each level has different challenges and there are about 16 levels per board, with four boards to go through and at least one more on the way in future updates. There’s lots of content and if you enjoy Puzzle games check this one out. Hitman GO is $4.99 if you’re ready for some stealthy kills.

The Walking Dead Season TwoThe Walking Dead Season 2

Season Two of the popular Walking Dead Episodic series game from Telltale Games has finally landed on the Play Store and we’re sure plenty of people couldn’t be happier. If you have been playing this game already and are finished with the first season, now’s your chance to continue the madness. The first episode of Season Two is free and you’ll end up paying close to $15 for episodes two through five as IAP.  The game is available now in the Play Store.

Warhammer 40K: CarnageAH Warhammer 40K: Carnage

Warhammer 40K: Carnage is a sidescrolling RPG of sorts. You play through the game as the ultramarine and blood angel space marines, ripping through ork flesh level by level to save your general. Each level will reward you with experience and potentially powerful wargear, which you can either sell or equip to upgrade your space marine and outfit him with more damage dealing power and stronger defenses. There are 50 levels across two maps with at least four more maps to come through free expansion packs included in future updates. Each level can also be completed with multiple difficulties and different challenges, providing an alternate and harder experience throughout. It’ll set you back $6.99, but that’s well worth it for the amount of content.

Topia World BuilderTopia World Builder

Topia is a world builder done right. Build lush forests and vast plains, fill them with animals and watch them get attacked by predators. Create giant mountains, or just let your world sit there, it’s your choice, because you can. As god of your new world you can build it and shape it as you see fit, and that means you place things where you want them. Worlds can be saved and edited for later play, and you can change the color of the landscapes and watch your creations grow. Topia World Builder from Crescent Moon Games will set you back $1.99 if you’re ready to become God.

Dragon Quest VIIIDragon-Quest-VIII-android

The acclaimed Dragon Quest VIII from Square Enix finally made it to Android at the beginning of this month and boy was it worth the wait. It has awesome visuals, a fantastic storyline and hours upon hours upon hours of gameplay. The battle system is in your typical JRPG fashion with a couple of tweaks. While some might find it weird, the portrait mode controls actually make for a more comfortable gaming experience as you can play with one hand(a lot easier and more enjoyable than you’d think). Begin your journey with one of the best RPG titles to ever grace any gaming platform with Dragon Quest VIII. Although it is a bit pricey at $19.99, it is a great game and you won’t be disappointed.

Top 10 Best Android Apps

Sleep Cycle Alarm ClockSleep Cycle Alarm Clock

If you haven’t checked out Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock yet then you should. It boasts the ability to help you wake up feeling more refreshed by monitoring your sleep patterns and movement while you sleep, and will wake you up(presumably)at the best time within the range that you set for the alarm. Yes the app is $1.99, but having been using it for over a week now I can happily say that the $1.99 I spent was not for nothing. The app actually does wake you up feeling more refreshed, and is an investment everyone should look into.

ReadyReady

Ready for those of you who may have missed our coverage of it when it released, is a dialer and contact list application that brings life and beautification back to an app that is about the smartphone’s most basic function, calling. While the stock dialers used in Android and many other OEM UIs are fine, Ready boosts things to the next level. Images are big and beautiful, you get shortcuts for contacts after you’re finished with a phone call, and the call history is even displayed while the phone is ringing. Contacts are displayed in a sort of Rolodex like design, with large pictures so you can easily navigate to and find the contact you want. Ready Contact list is free and definitely worth a look or join their community to become  a beta tester.

LumosityLumosity

You’re never too old to learn new tricks. Basically, it’s never too late to train your brain. Lumosity aims to help as many people as they can to train their brain and help users train their memory and attention by using fun and helpful little mini games to do so. Sometimes it’s hard to remember stuff and it can be even harder to keep our attention focused, this is where Lumosity can help. The app itself is free but will have a sub fee associated with it via IAP. There are other games included in Lumosity as well that can help you to train your problem solving skills, and more games that target other important parts of your brain tailored to what it is you’re looking to strengthen. There are over 40 games that can be spread out across daily workouts(including 5 games each)to help you better targeted functions of the brain.

Google SlidesGoogle Slides

Google Slides makes it easy to create, edit and collaborate on presentations with others, now free to install onto your Android phone or tablet device. Google had stated earlier in the year that they would be bringing slides to the Play Store after they announced the separation of Docs and Sheets from Drive to make them standalone apps. You can open and edit powerpoint files anytime anywhere even without an internet connection thanks to the offline mode. Just like with Docs and Sheets everything in Slides is saved as you type, so losing any important information or data should be a non-issue. Google Slides is free too of course, another awesome detail about the app.

Nike+ FuelBandunnamed (2)

After a long wait the Nike+ FuelBand app is finally available in the Play Store with full Android support for the tiny fitness oriented wearable. Prior to this month Nike+FuelBands were only compatible with iOS, which turned a lot of potential customers off due to the fact that they use Android devices instead. Now that the app is available you can feel free to pick up your FuelBand knowing that you can track and pull up your stats for your latest run or bike ride, or count your calories and steps and measure them all through the app interface, and even compare them against others for a little friendly competition. The app supports devices running Android 4.3 and above, and of course you’ll need the FuelBand for it to work or do you any good, but the app itself is free.

Oyster-Read unlimited BooksOyster

This is definitely an app for the bookworms. If you enjoy reading than Oyster is an app that can provide you with plenty of new books to read anytime you wish. It’s basically like the Netflix for books, requiring a small monthly subscription fee for access to hundreds of thousands of books to read on your smartphone or tablet anywhere you wish. There are over 500,000 books in total in the Oyster library so chances are you’ll find what you’re looking for, whether that be a classic from the Lord of the Rings series or the hottest new novel from your favorite author. Summer is here and that can leave plenty of open time with nothing to do, so why not read a good book?

Z LauncherZ Launcher

Home launchers are a constant in the world of customization on Android devices, but in this day and age there are so many to choose from it can be hard to pin the best choice down. Nokia recently unveiled and released a beta(trial)version of their upcoming launcher for Android devices called Z Launcher, which looks like it aims to take on the sort of crowd that we would have found using the recently Yahoo purchased launcher called Aviate. It’s main goal is to give you quick access to the things that you need the most, and even changes its style slightly from day to night to better suit your needs with apps and shortcuts that fit you for that specific time. Watch the video below for a quick demo on how it works, and make sure to follow Z Launcher at their twitter account for details on when they have more open beta spots. Unfortunately their beta has already reached capacity but they will be allowing more users soon hopefully.

Echo Notification Lockscreenunnamed (2)

Echo notification Lockscreen is just one of many options to help you manage your notifications, but much in the fashion of Dashclock takes your notifications and places them in the spot you’ll see them first, your lockscreen. With Echo though you see any of your notifications and not just the ones that there are available plugins for. Everything gets added and categorized in a nice clean style for easy access. Everything is automatically sorted although you can tailor it to your liking if you prefer, and with Echo you won’t have to be bothered with checking notifications unless you know it’s important, as Echo will wake the screen for priority notifications. To maximize that particular feature, you’ll want to set which notifications you consider priority and which ones you don’t. Echo is free.

Copy BubbleCopy Bubble

If you are constantly having the need for a copy and paste function while using your Android smartphone or tablet, Copy Bubble is invaluable to you. It allows you to place the tiny little bubble icon on your homescreen and it persists above all other apps much like Facebook chat heads, so that when you copy something to you clipboard, it will throw the copied text into the bubble for easy access. As you copy and paste more pieces of text from various webpages, the number of copied items on the bubble increases. Copy Bubble will take the last copied item and keep that in the clipboard, but you can easily select an older piece of text to use by simply opening up the bubble and tapping on the box that it resides in. It’s a simple little app that has a huge beneficial use and Copy Bubble works for copying images too. Copy bubble is free.

Android L Keyboardunnamed (2)

This one is pretty self explanatory, as it’s third party keyboard app that places the new Google Keyboard from the Android L developer preview on your phone. Android L keyboard is the same keyboard from the preview with the new material design styling, free with no ads or bloat. This is a standalone app so unlike with the L preview it isn’t built in as a system application, you also don’t need root for this keyboard to work. Just install.

Way of the Warrior was featured in Best Games of 2009 by Apple – Samurai II is a true successor, aided by over a year of focused development. Overall production values and vicious action put Samurai II on par with console 3D brawlers. Screenshots don’t do Samurai II justice – the fluid action has to be seen running at 60 frames per second.

But looks alone won’t carry a game – the developers listened to fan feedback and improved gameplay throughout. With a new virtual d-pad, dynamic camera, environmental puzzles, traps, and vicious new enemies, Samurai II is brand new experience for hack ‘n’ slash gamers on the go.

Samurai II sends Daisuke on a quest for revenge across the war-scorched countryside. From a seafaring village to a flying fortress to the legendary Isle of the Dead, the samurai will stop at nothing to hunt down his arch-enemy Orochi. Will he get his Vengeance?

FEATURES:

- Intuitive virtual joystick ensures you’re slicing up baddies, not swiping the screen.

- Dynamic camera finds the best perspective for each encounter, adding variety while keeping focused on the action.

- Tense, quick and gory battle sequences!
- Battle hordes of on-screen enemies wielding new weapons and sporting unique abilities.
- Stay nimble and plan your attacks – roll out of harm’s way and eliminate ranged enemies like the Samurai Archer before they can strike.

- Improved game play includes new features.
- Solve environmental puzzles, avoid dangerous traps, and discover useful items.
- The fight is on - not to worry, the combat never takes a back seat to platforming or fetch-quests.

- RPG elements reward skilled players – upgrade the Samurai’s health, buy new attack combos and upgrade them to devastating levels.

- Between levels, gorgeous anime-style comic panels tell the samurai’s tale with original hand-drawn artwork.

- New survival mode pits the samurai against waves of enemies, giving hardcore players a score-attack mode to hone their skills. Two games in one!

- Advanced AI system on par with console games. Goal Oriented Action Planning architecture is used in many PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 games.

- Original soundtrack – in classic samurai movie style, soft music builds with the heat of battle.
